English teachers teaching in rural areas often face the non-availability of required technical support and relevant atmosphere to teach English effectively. It is here that the role of innovative teachers becomes quite essential. An effective teacher, despite having limited resources, can prove himself as a tool. The present paper examines various resources and tools that can prove beneficial in teaching English as a foreign language. It will also throw light on the advantages and disadvantages of using teaching aids and will discover ways of how our pedagogical styles may work wonders at times. It has to be realized that despite all cacophony, it is ultimately the man who has to master the machines. Teaching is not only about the introduction of innovative technology but is also the desire to be created amongst our students.

This article endeavors to elaborate written language production done by university students by using English subtitled videos. Two intact groups were assigned to accomplish two different tasks; that is, one group watched the video with subtitle and the other one without subtitle. The result of the study reveals that learners who carry out the tasks of watching video with subtitle improve their ability in written production in terms of fluency and accuracy regardless to complexity.

The researcher got research at English Department of FKIP of Muhammadiyah University of Malang especially Second Semesters that had a problem to comprehend English Text. The data collected from the reading test were analyzed to find the answer of problem. The steps in process were as follows: firstly, the writer corrected the student’s answer sheets; secondly, give score for each answer sheet, thirdly, identified the student’s score. This study uses descriptive method by collecting data in order to answer the question concerning status of subject of study. The subjectis second semesters that consist of 200 of students. The result of the analyzing of available can be interpreted that the students of English Department have mastered the English texts, and many students get problem namely 32 the students getting high score, 8 students getting lower score and the mean of value reliability items are 12,425. It means that the student’s ability in comprehending texts is good.
